The Team and The Task

The Team and The Task

My team’s First week Task

The TEAM and the TASK. What team and what task? You are probably wondering…well, wonder no more.

About a month ago, a bunch of strangers and I signed up for the Sidehustle internship program. A few signed up to learn a new skill, others, to brush up their knowledge of a field and of course, the “curious cats” who sign up for things (programs) just to see how it goes.

Well, whatever reason these strangers signed up for, it was surely worth the time and resource used during the internship, as we all took it a step further by enrolling in the ongoing Bootcamp.

The unique thing about Sidehustle Bootcamp is that it offers an opportunity for group. People work together to achieve a set goal and learn from each other during the process. Here, students get to work on portfolios that will serve as firsthand practical of whatever they learnt during the internship program.

In the light of the above, we were placed in a team that consist of individuals who participated in the graphic design internship program.

The most beautiful thing about this team is, we are all new to this creative space, however, we have an idea of what graphic design entails.

Each week, we will be given a task and all hands must be on deck to deliver before the deadline.

The team commenced with a scheduled meeting, where we got to know ourselves. During the meeting we identified what concept we were trying to work on, after which we we settled for “African Restaurant”. We decided to make it broad enough to accommodate all African dishes, so the brand can find it easy to switch.

We brainstormed on the common element of African dishes, the possible color and logo for our brand, typography and extra elements to get customers patronize the brand. We selected Canva to be used as our collaboration tool.

In conclusion, we deliberated on getting a brand name. Couple of names suggested include: food planet , 54 food planet,Afric food,African food planet,54 nations food and Fro African cuisine. After much said and done, we settled for “Fro African cuisine”.

The team had a subsequent meeting to finalize what we had done for our task, which was to prepare a brand guide for a restaurant. It was a hassle getting everyone together, due to the time difference constraint facing us not to mention our very dissimilar work and daily routine.

Notwithstanding, the delayed response received from some team members over the rest who gave prompt answers to the given task, we intend to forge ahead as a team and ensure we meet all set deadline.

It’s crystal clear that, signing up for this boot camp is no joke. My team and I look forward to our next task. Stay with us through this exciting journey!

Cheers!!
